Since the first vineyards were planted in 1973, the Long Island wine region has
continued to grow, from 17 vineyards in 1996 to 35+ today. There are some 40
licensed wineries currently operating on Long Island, producing 500,000+ cases of premium wine from over 20 classic vinifera grape varieties.
With just 3,000 acres under cultivation, the focus in Long Island is on quality, not quantity.
East End viticulturists personally tend their vines throughout the long growing season to yield grapes of the highest quality. Our local winemakers are true artisans, carefully crafting wines that meet exacting standards for structure and balance.
With this approach, it is no surprise that Long Island wines receive high praise from some of the wine industry’s best-known critics. In 2006 the region received very favorable reviews in The Wine Spectator, The New York Times and, for the first time, in a comprehensive report in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, rating the region from “Very Good” (85-89) to “Outstanding” (90-95).
The growing media coverage is reinforced by awards won by Long Island wineries in many competitions held around the country. Closer to home, the region’s wines consistently stand out at the annual New York Wine and Food Classic competition, capturing over 111 awards, including Best Red, Best Chardonnay, Best Sauvignon Blanc, Best Semisweet Reisling, and Best Unifera Red Blend.

who wrote the North Fork of Long Island appellation into existence in 1986. At Bedell Cellars, we make
sustainability-minded choices during the grape growing and wine-making process to benefit our company, our community, and our planet.
Named for the sculpted tools found near the vineyard and used by the earliest inhabitants of Long Island’s North Fork more than 10,000 years ago, Clovis Point acknowledges its connection to the fertile land here. Planted in 2001 and opened in 2007, Clovis Point is among the newer vineyards on Long Island, but we seek to make wines that, like our namesake implements, pass the test of time.
We have more than 10 acres of merlot, cabernet franc and chardonnay vinesunder production. We actively combine lots of high-quality fruit to produce distinctive varietal and blended wines of character and balance—not just the typical Merlot or Chardonnay. For example, our double-gold (Appellation America and Finger Lakes International Wine Competition) award-winning 2005 Merlot is 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Our 2007 Cabernet Franc combines 92% cabernet franc and 8% cabernet sauvignon. And our ever-popular Chardonnays (one stainless steel-fermented and one barrel-aged) both contain a small percentage of Gewurztraminer. We make only 2,000 cases of wine each year and, with the goal of being a small, top-flight winery, we intend to keep our production low.

Corey Creek Vineyards
Corey Creek’s tasting room and gift shop is an airy, barn-like building with glass doors opening onto a wide, south-facing outdoor deck. The high elevation of the tasting room gives visitors spectacular views both inside and out overlooking the vineyard. It is the perfect setting to enjoy our wine and experience the North Fork. Corey Creek is renowned for its distinctive Reserve Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer, both won the “Best in New York State” distinction for 2006.

We make every drop of Greenport Harbor Beer in two small breweries at the very end of Long Island.
It began when co-founders John Liegey and Rich Vanderburgh met in college. They bonded, as most guys do, over some pretty awful beer. But their friendship and palates grew as better beer wound up in their glasses.
After school they pursued separate careers; John in advertising and Rich as an attorney. Though their career paths diverged they remained close continuing to share their mutual love for beer. The notion that they would someday open their own brewery also remained.
Both men have roots in the North Fork. It’s where John’s family spent their summers and where Rich met his wife, Ann, while helping renovate a Liegey home. The expansive fields and working farms, the sun-dappled vineyards, the farm-to-table culture and genuine, laid-back vibe appealed to them. The North Fork is where the brewery needed to be and when the old firehouse in Greenport Village became available they took their shot. In pursuit of this singular dream, weekends, holidays and vacations were spent renovating this dilapidated firehouse while still maintaining their full-time jobs. On July 12th, 2009, a brewery was born.
As the beer grew in popularity the guys knew they had to commit fully. Suits were abandoned for work shirts as they left stable, lucrative careers.
Over the years, Greenport Harbor Brewery’s popularity has grown leading to its expansion across two tasting room locations, a restaurant, and distribution across New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. It continues to be rooted in the philosophy of constant improvement and a commitment to excellence, still producing every drop of its beer in their two breweries on the North Fork of Long Island.

The only Long Island vineyard with a restaurant, the Comtesse Thérèse Winery & Bistro is an elegantly restored 1830’s home on the Main Road in Aquebogue. It is the only restaurant on the East End serving exclusively Long Island wines, from grapes grown at the 20 acre vineyard in Aquebogue and other local vineyards. Do a wine tasting at the bar, dine in the Bistro or al fresco on our rooftop sundeck, or enjoy outdoor dining within our vineyard rows. Chef Aristodemos Pavlou trained in Paris, France and prepares simple French classics using Bistro-grown herbs and North Fork duck, seafood and produce.

At Croteaux, we make rosé and only rosé. We are the only vineyard in the United States to do so.
Our wines combine the traditional tastes of southern France with the distinct seaside style and agrarian history of the North Fork. Our efforts are focused on making dry, crisp, fun-to-drink wines that are full of distinct and natural flavors. We make rosé on purpose, and it is safe to say that pink is our favorite color.
Croteaux Vineyards is the only vineyard in the U.S. exclusively dedicated to growing vinifera grapes for making only rosé.
Planted in 2003, our vineyards, winery, and tasting garden are set against the backdrop of two historic farms, which have been in continuous agricultural production since the 1700s.
In the summer, this is the perfect setting for tasting and experiencing our delicious wines. Each year brings a fresh vintage of Croteaux rosés, which are released in March and are sold out by fall.
